Default Trying to get mp3 file to ringtone

I downloaded and synced a song to my Moto Q9h. I saved it in "Moto" "My Docs" "Ringtones" but when I look for it on the phone I can't find it in "sounds" or "ringtones". Any ideas?
Thanks

Try dropping it into the "My Documents" folder, and see if it shows up.

If you have and its still not there, is the file under 300 kb ???? If not, then you need to make it so, or do a search on this forum for the thread that removes the file size limitation for ringtones.

Try saving it to the root of your storage card(i.e., not in any folder on your storage card).

It is in the My Documents folder, but when I go to one of the screens to set the ringtone for a specific feature it doesn't show up among the selections available. I'll bet, after reading some of the threads here, this has something to do with the file size. Thanks for your help.

Oh, I thought you dropped it in the subfolder named, "My Ringtones" That doesn't work for my phone. But it does work when you drop it into the "My Documents" folder only, no sub-folders.

Yes, anything over 300 kb, and the ringtone app will not display the mp3 as an option for a ringtone. You can do one of two things, lower the quality or shorten the ringtone, or the easier in my opinion, do the registry hack that removes said limitation. Then you can enjoy all your ringtones to your heart's content

Unfortunately, I couldn't follow the steps the thread said to take....I have a Moto Q 9h...maybe there is a difference, because the steps suggested I couldn't find...to remove the file limitation.

No, I didn't. I may be in a bit over my head as I don't even know what a "registry hack" is?

Hm, do you have an AIM account ???? This is a bit much to go over in a thread, unless you find the one that was written that goes over this, step by step.

You will need a registry editor (like Resco, PHM, etc.) . . . if you're not comfortable editing your Q's registry, you may want to do a little research before you start doing so . . .
