Default System and phone ring sounds

Hi,

I have switched to q9h after using a touch screen communicator. In the previous devise, there were separate settings for system sounds and ring sounds. For example, I can set a system sound to be low and this will make any notification from any IM software to be low while keeping ring volume high.

In q9h the definition of system sounds seems to be different. I can set system sounds low at profile settings but this will not affect the volume level of third party software notifications. So the only way I can decrease the volume of these notifications is to lower the ring volume by long-pressing the middle button on the right side of the phone.

My question: Does anybody know how to make notification volume lower while keeping ring volume high in q9h?

I think what you may be looking for is what I came across a little while ago with a program where I wanted to turn program notifications up, but you can turn it down by setting a lower value then what its at. Its independent of the system volume, however the system value does have SOME impact on the sound volume, so play around with the combinations.

Look <a href="http://www.everythingq.com/forum/moto-q-9h/help-with-imsms-16746.html">here</a>. You should see the registry hack near the bottom.

Play around with it, and see if that helps. I believe it will solve your problems

Mexiken, There is a lot of reading (as if my refer to thread wasn't long enough) to try and figure out what might work for alexeyge.
Can you provide a quick answer/solution on this one if there is one? Thanks bunches!

Its on the first page. Don't understand how much reading is involve (reading back on this thread now, I remember it was the thread in which I exchanged long winded posts with Rudeboy)

There is a registry hack. Please see the page. I discovered it, but don't remember it off hand. It is however, at the bottom of that first page. If you had read the first post, I posed a similar question. Reading a few posts down, I posted the answer myself later.

If people can't possess the attention span to read some posts, I don't really know how much a person can contribute to a forum. But that would fall in line with the general trend of people who can't seem to search either. You have though, for which I'm glad you're here and helping

Your registry hack does not work for me. I set the registry value to 1 and the application sound volume hasn't changed. Anyway I found that Slick messenger allows to control the volume of its sounds which is very handy.

I relation to your post, that you have kindly referred to, I have something to add. The button on the right-hand side of Q9H controls the overall sound level of the device. That is, "Loud" in the profile setting means the highest volume defined by this button.

Unfortunately, smartphone version of Windows mobile does not allow to control application sounds independently of the ring sound (excluding, of course, built-in applications). And I still has not discovered any hack that would make it possible.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work. Thanks for taking the time to read and try it. I was hoping it would work.

The button on the right hand side actually refers to the "System Volume" in the profile menus. I know because 1. When I change that, the system volume key changes in the registry and in the profiles. And two, the "beep" it makes when you select it is a system sound, whose volume is directly controlled by that sound parameter. You can hear it get louder or softer when you turn the keys up or down and then press and hold it again.

However, turning that up and down also affects virtually every other ring and sound too. Its kind of confusing, but all the sounds are actually somewhat (some more than others) tied into that sound. So turning it down also turns down your ringer and notifications and so forth. So actually, with the Q9h at least, you can have that side button down at less than "Loud" (the bars maxed out) but the ringer set to high. Therefore, I usually keep that at its highest, than adjust everything else around it. That way, I don't have to keep fiddling around with the side key.

In the end, I believe that key is just meant to quite everything down with a quick press and shift, rather than the individual settings.

Play around with it. I have Photo Contact Pro now so I can't really play around with the original profile settings, as PCP takes over profiles and stuff. Try it out and see what you come up with.

Question I need Help

When I send a text message, I get a beep when the message has sent. Does anyone know how to turn this off? I can't find this option under the sounds tab in settings or in the options tab under text messages.

I went from a black Q to a silver Q when my original black Q took a deep plunge in the toilet by accident. I can not seem to get all my settings on the silver back to where I liked them on my Q.

Any advice?

that sounds come with the 'sent message' screen
so i think in order to get rid of the noise you need to get rid of that screen

if you want download and install Q-Hack NoSentSMSMsg.cab
from here

Hockey is exactly right. That cab will do away with that sound. And also, programs like Photo Contacts Pro or XT or IMSMS will also give you an option within the program to disable said sound and screen. Big convenience when you have a threading program.
