Switching to a bigger memory card, question about installed apps on the current card - Motorola Q Forum

I'm more than likely I'm gonna get a 4gb card for my Q, i have a 2gb currently. If i have apps installed on the card now and copy the whole card to the bigger one, will the apps still work?

or will this be a problem, and have to re-install the apps?

if you copy & paste the card like it is on the older one you should be fine

i kinda thought it would, just would hate to have to re-install all the apps to the new card. it works for my e62, but didn't work for my w810i.

as long as you preserve the path in the new memory card, you will be fine.

i picked up a 4gb card for $40, and it worked without a hitch.

Where are you guys buying your cards? The best I've seen is around $45 for a 4gb card on pricegrabber.com.

got mine at office depot, it was on sale. retail price was $79. so i couldn't pass it up for $40 with no mail in rebates. i could have got one online, but i really hate waiting. ($10 a gig isn't bad)

sinclac, after shipping it came close to $40 bucks though right?

i'm drooling over the 6-8gb cards now...

*edit* card came with a SDHC compliant card reader too
