Still cant edit the registry on my Q9h

WHen I try to delete files from the Windows folder, I get an access denied message. Does this mean the phone is locked? Which program should I run to unlock this?

the .wav is in ROM and can not be deleted, if you do uncheck the read-only and system attribute and delete it, it will reappear after a power cycle.. you should be able to overwrite it.. perhaps overwriting it with a silent wav will work for you.

should also be a sound setting in the same area of the registry, try seting that to 0

my two choices are

Category
Sound

When I go into Sound, the only value data I can change says *none* already. If i delete that, it makes no difference.

When I go into Category, the only thing I can change is :Value Data says: System. I wonder if I can delte that? Probably wont make a difference.

do a reg backup ...and hack away. I do rememer reading about where that setting is somewhere in the hack section

I think you can get the Lite version at Handango as well..plus isn't there a 25% off sale right now?

didn't see this mentioned before......also make sure you power cycle the phone after you make regestry changes

I still cant fix the start up sound, but the other hacks work great now. Thanks to all that helped.

when I killed the shutter sound on my Q1 it also greatly reduced the volume of the start up sound :-) x106555
