how do u perform soft reset?

i thought soft reset is different from power off/on...

yep, that's what i call a soft reset (btw: there is not a hard reset.. even though many call a Master Reset a hard reset)

If the phone is "frozen", this will also function just like a Master Reset:

With the phone off...
Press Z and E (and hold) and press Power button to power ON.

if the phone is frozen why in the world would you do this!?!
just pull the battery out and put it back in and restart the phone!

no need to master reset the device if it locks up...thats just nuts

....... Unless of course battery removal does not perform "soft reset", which was the case for a Member of another forum. The Z+E reset was, therefore, his only solution.

My experience with other (non-pda) Motorola phones is this is not an uncommon occurrence.
According to the Member, russoeternal, who is a Member here also, the phone retained its 'frozen' status even after the battery was removed and reinserted. If you wish, I could point you to the thread for the discussion.
None-the-less, he says it happened and I believe him.
