Default Simple usability questions for Q9h/WM6

I ran into a few usability issues that are annoying to me but I'm pretty sure there are easier ways to go about this.
  • Can I specify what programs show up in that "recently run" programs launcher?
  • I'm using Flexmail and I'm trying to figure out how to select a large amount of e-mails/all the emails in the folder and I held down the fn key but there are ~2,000 messages I need to select and even holding down the down key is time consuming. Any ways to speed up scrolling through lists like that?
  • The backlight seems to turn off even when I'm performing tasks and waiting for programs to respond. How do I prevent this over-zealous backlight shutdown without setting it to always be on or something. It doesnt always shut off at the same time either. There are times where it abruptly shuts off and times where it gets slightly dimmer and then goes out
  • When the backlight goes out, I hit the fn key to bring the backlight back because if I hit other buttons it has a tendency to affect something the phone is doing at the time that I can't see. What button do you usually press to activate the backlight again without disrupting anything that the phone is doing?

This is my first smartphone so the questions may seem pretty trivial but they'd really save me some aggravation.

Also, for those of you using Smarttoolkit, whenever I start it, it also opens Windows Media Player for some odd reason. How do I prevent that?

Many thanks!

For the recently run programs I suggest you may want to try Facade. It's button launcher is much more flexible. I use it to create a button launch pad of my 12 favorite applications.

Email is hard one.... You have much more email than me ... about 10 Corporate Email, and 10 personal Email a day.

The backlight issues yes I agree the backlight is a pain but the Q9h being a 3G smartphone does not have a great battery life to start with so I have not played with the backlight setting too much.

What button do you usually press to activate the screen after a while? On my previous phone, I could hit any button and it would activate the screen but wouldn't perform a function until the screen was lit (say if the backlight was off, I would hit a button once to wake it up and then hit that same button again to perform the function)

I've found that if I hit the "select" button when the phone is "asleep" it will activate the screen AND perform the function which is annoying when I have a program open when its asleep and dont mean to actually select anything.

Does that make any sense?

I receive corporate mail. The IT department policy is my smart phone needs to be password protected.

So center ring I usually just press the up direction to wake the display, the left soft key to enter my unlock code.

The way I have it set in 15 seconds the display turns off the backlight, and in two minutes my display is off.

Works fine for me.

When I am done I press and hold the home button, lock my Q9h.

The behavior when the phone is locked is my display turns off in 5 seconds.

Thanks for that. I ended up removing Flexmail. It was slowing things down and didnt wow me at all.

Guess its Pocket Outlook then.
