Yeah, tell me about it. My roomie had the 8525, and he had about 10K messages stored there....Slowed his phone down like CRAZY....

Personally, I wouldn't leave too much on there. Thats the only reason I use XT now, clears messages quickly by hitting, "delete conversation"
