It's a good idea if you're downloading files and receiving emails from the "the unknown". LOL

Go to start>McAfee VirusScan>Menu>Configure Options.
Keep the "Enable real-time scan" checked. At the bottom of that page...under "Schedule Scan". Uncheck "Scan without prompt" and change the interval to "Never". This will keep McAfee running on Real-Time without a full device scan every day, week, etc.

Hope this helps,
DQ

To be honest with you...my battery life has only changed a little bit (worth it to me). I'm constantly going to task manager and killing anything that's open. The best part is that its easy to uninstall if you feel like it's causing issues. Just go to remove programs.

I disabled McAfee yesterday. It's real annoying. It would prompt me to run a scan when I was answering a phone call. Odd, you cannot disable message scan. I'm not concerned about PDA viruses...at least not yet. I'll probably remove it from my 9h.

It does reside in ROM. You can delete it from where ever you have it, but it will still be in ROM, so it is not completely removed.

Honestly, I wasn't sure if was the type of app that prompts the user to install. ie. Get McAfee Virus Protection. Tried deleting, but it always in use by another process. Might have to try a Master Reset. Might be time. My Q9h was acting a bit funky yesterday. It wouldn't let me access my soft menus during calls and I wanted to activate my speakerphone. Nothing a good spring cleaning won't resolve.

A master clear was the only way I could get it off my Q9h.

Okay, I'm taking my chances...
You guys have had your Q's much longer than I so I've removed the program from settings. It asked me to restart the phone (done) and I don't see it anywhere. I was prepared for the master reset but maybe I won't have to...
