question about moto q case screen shutoff

im guessing it times out at normal intervals when there is a lack of light, but when it completly senses no light at all, it would shut down.

although i have no idea how this works or anything im just guessing here.

I keep my backlight time out set at 10 seconds on battery and 15 seconds for the display time out. and this is unchanged in a darkroom (photographic)

our fridge had sort of a switch too..so we didnt get that issue when we was young'uns.
