In light of the recent argument of the existence of wifi in our beloved Q9's, I thought I would offer an alternate solution to internet access without the need of a data plan or even signal.
I don't think many realize that our Q's have the ability to access internet using your home network via active sync/wmdc; it's called
pass through. Just sync your device via usb or bluetooth and make one simple change in your browser (pie or opera) settings:
Change your network connection to 'The Internet'.
*Note: you can set it to automatic, but that's a hit or miss. Sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn't.
PIE
menu > tools > options > connection > select network > 'The Internet'
Opera
menu > tools > settings > connection > select network > 'The Internet'
After making the necessary change you can test your connection by going to Wireless Manager and turning phone radio off. Start up your browser....
I know this is not wifi and impractical if you're away from home, but it's great for people who don't have an unlimited data plan. At least you can still get to everythingq or surf the web while your kids or annoying siblings are hoggin up the computer.
