other sync software

i love wm5 and 6, but i hate activesync. i don't use exchange/outlook for email. my company uses novell groupwise and with groupwise mobile server, there is an app i can install on my phone to use for email, syncing my contacts, calender, all the things active sync can do. i was hoping there was another program out there i could use to explore files using my pc. it would be an added plus if i could export my contacts to my pc as a back up option.
