Default newbie several ? about gps

HI! I am a newbie and just got my Q9h yesterday. I have a lot of questions. I basically got the phone for the GPS thinking that way I would have a phone and navigation. Have tried it out and it was ok. We went off course on purpose and it took a while to reroute us, we knew where we were going just checking it out. We are using the telenav that comes with it. So the questions I have are
1. What is a good gps program?
2. Everyone seems to talk about google maps where do I get that
3. Someone said there was a site where I could get faster connection and would have like 12 satilites tracking you, and would give you your speed, does anyone know that site?
4. Should I have just stayed with the rzr and bought a Garmin?

Sorry, very newbie and not a techie at all

Thank you

I do use Telenav for most of my travels, and I also have found that it takes a while to reroute.
For google maps just go to www.google.com/m and you will find it there. It's a nice program, although it doesn't do voice prompts. I'm not familliar with that site (the Q9c's GPS doesn't really need to be sped up)
And whether you should have gotten a Garmin is really a personal decision. The Q works quite well as a GPS for me and I'm glad I didn't get a standalone.
Another thing you can do to speed up the fix time is to use an external BT GPS receiver (can be left on so it will know which satellites are visible and not have to search like the phone)

Definitely try Windows Live Mobile. It is free, and it asks if you want a new route very quickly when you stay off course. I prefer it to Google Maps for my driving needs.

Do you have a data service? I am pretty sure its required for this, otherwise you will be paying ALOT for the GPS download and transmissions. If you do have a data plan and its unlimited or enough for this, then as suggested use Windows Live its better integrated with the Mobile OS but Google Maps is very good too. Pretty much all of them use downloaded pictures and routes to guide you, especially TeleNAV.

I've never heard of that site, but Garmin Mobile XT's dashboard will give you your avg, instantaneous, and a bunch of other speeds. Fun stuff. Try that one out, if they have a trial period.
