Default Newbie needs help please?

After many many years of Nokia use, I've bought a Q 9h.
A few questions from a Windows Mobile novice please:
1. Is there an application which will allow me to increase all the Font sizes eg. SMS, Email, Contacts, Calls etc?
2. Is there a way to silence the Q 9h with one button press so it only vibrates?
3. How does one install applications (I said I'm a novice).
Thanks
Darryl

Generally, to install apps you will do one of two things:

1) if the installation file is a CAB file (it will show as a ZIP file on your PC), you copy that over to your Q, find it with the file explorer, and execute it (if the file was downloaded directly to your Q, then just navigate to it with your Q's file explorer and execute it);

2) if the installation file is an EXE file, then you need to hook up your Q to your PC via Active Sync, execute the installation file on your PC, and it will copy over what is needed for installation to your Q (follow the instructions on your Q when prompted).

You're welcome. Check out my apps page for the apps I use. Also check out the Favorite Apps thread in the Software Forum.

1. Under Start>Settings>More>Accessibility, you will find System Font Size. You can increase that to large

2. Unfortunately not. Most other phones do, but not this one. You can either turn off the ringer if you have vibrate and ring on, leaving you with just vibrate, or you can change the profile. Some 3rd party apps let you create shortcuts to certain apps, or there are threads here that explain how to, however you will need some registry hacking, which requires a bit of knowledge about how registries works, but its there.

3. One of two ways. If you download an .exe file intended for your phone, you simply need to start Activesync, and double click it, it will install, and you need to confirm it on your phone. If its a cab file, you need to again fire up Activesync, then drag the file to the memory of the phone through Windows Explorer. Then, navigate to it on your device, and open it. It will install. Done and done.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I want to do exactly this "You can either turn off the ringer if you have vibrate and ring on, leaving you with just vibrate" but I'm not sure how.
Off to work now as it's 7.31am here in Sydney but I'll get back into my quests later in the day.

Sorry too frustrated not to respond and I really appreciate the help.

For some reason on my phone all that appears under Settings, More, Accessibility are options for:
Multipress time out:
Confirmation time out:
In call alert volume:
Smartdial setting:

And that's it?

First off, welcome. It will take some time until you know what you want and need on your phone and act accordingly. The thing to remember is you will generally need the softwares based on what you need to do. If you want to do something and its not available, there is a good chance someone has made a software for it and a search of the forums will yield that.

As far as learning to navigate and use your device, a lot of it is intuitive and some of it just takes a little digging and when in doubt, search the forums here, someone's bound to have asked or it is bound to have been answered. Good luck to you and also remember, although relatively similar, all the Q9 models are not entirely created equal, so keep that in mind too when using any advice given.

Thanks again.
I've been doing a lot of searching but I seem to find the majority posts (but obviously not all) refer to Windows Mobile 5.
To date I've not been able to find an application which clearly says it allows one to increase font sizes for everything.
Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

I'm making good progress familiarising myself with the great new phone but Font size is a deal breaker for me.

If I don't find a solution (and maybe there isn't one) then I'll have to consider the Treo 750 which I'm told can adjust the Font size.

Otherwise I'll just have to stay with my Nokia N95 8GB and forget about email etc.
