Default new owner of Q9h - how to display my name and phone number on home screen

hello all,

I am new member and new proud owner of Q9h. I have a quick question for you. How can I customize my home screen to display my name and phone number? It will be required for first couple of weeks until I familiarize with my new cell#.

Appreciate your help in advance!

Have a great day...

Thanks

Adding text such as a phone number to the home screen is a lot more difficult than you think. The Q9h does not support the function you require. You can find your number under settings then clicking on owner information. In this window you can fill out your name and number and is available for you to view at anytime. There are other ways to view your number but this is the one with the least steps I can think of.

I thought there would be a simple way to do this. Any way thanks for quick response.

Music or Audio

Couldn't the homescreen xml be edited so that the carrier information shows your phone number instead of Verizon or AT&T or whatever? Seems to me you can put whatever text you want in the quotes.

Yes, it can be modified. I tried once, thought I followed all the steps, but it just didn't work for me. I had issues putting the XML back on the phone. Maybe I'll try again someday.

I would recommend you do what Rudeboy said and hardcode it in your XML file. Whichever homescreen you are using can be found in your Application Data\Home directory and you can edit it in any text editor (notepad, wordpad) and add it in the section where it shows your carrier. Just add it there as regular text. Let me know if you need the code done for you, you can send me your XML, I will generically modify it for you and then you can go back and put your information in there yourself.

Yes it can. But I didn't think the OP wanted to go through all that trouble. I remember how difficult it was for me to edit my first XML. He/she only wants it for a while just until he/she remembers the phone number. So I offered an easier solution.

Question. If I change it, what happens when I'm roaming in Mexico ???? Will it still say my modded name ???? I'd like to know if I was roaming or not.

If I send you the XML bro, can you hook a brother up ???? You don't know how much of a headache the file access privileges gave me. But I believe that was before I discovered EnableRapi.

Yes you can have it show you anything you want, as long as you know how to mod it, you can have it give you the carrier, whoever it is, wherever you are as well as whatever custom stuff you want it to say. You can can have it call you King Kong if you want, not a problem. The permission access can be avoided if you run the permission elevation program while trying to access the machine and if you have explorer access even without RAPI you can get the file transferred over and modified it. If you try to mod directly, then yeah its a headache.

That being said I don't know if you were being sarcastic and screwing with me or that was genuinely something you wanted to know but either way its there.
