Default Motorola Q 9h 3G?

Just wondering Motorola Q9h and Motorola Q9 3G are 2 different kinds of phone....or all the Motorola Q 9h has the 3G function..

I currently owe the Motorola 9h and I saw an ad saying that there is a Motorola Q 3G (the ad picture looks exactly like a Motorola Q 9h) available in our area (central America). And also, how does the 3G works; I do need my friends having the 3G phones in order to work, just by myself having the 3G phone is helpless.....

Thanks for your attention......

However if you have an AT&T branded one it will most likely NOT work with the 3G in your area because the bands are different.

An AT&T branded phone are the ones that has AT&T on the back of the phone and the bottom.

AT&T's version is called the moto q global, but it is the same phone as the
motorola q9h and the ones the other carriers have.
All of them should be 3G, but just because of the phone has 3G does not mean that you have 3G coverage in your area.
So even if your phone is 3G, if you do not have 3G coverage, you will not be able to use it.

Thank you,

No wonder my 3G never works! I have an unbranded Q 9H; however it was bought through ATT before they offered the phone nationally (I bought it off eBay and it came with the ATT/Cingular info on the box).

The G shows up occasionally but always disappears when in use. The internet speeds make it pretty obvious that I am not getting 3G as well.

What can I do to try to get 3G short of getting an ATT branded phone?

First to an earlier post ... there is a GSM Motorola Q without 3G. The "MotoQ 9e" does not support any of the 3G bands. This phone can be purchased direct from Motorola. It's quad-band GPRS and EDGE.

The "G" that you see probably means your losing EDGE and dropping to GPRS.

When 3G is availble and suported by the device, the display will be "3G", not "G".

There are two GSM Moto Q 9's that support 3G; the "Euro" version which has W2100 band 3G, and the North American (largely AT&T) one which supports W850/W1900 bands for 3G.

If your phone is truly "AT&T", perhaps there is a problem. You might check the Band Selection options to see what manual selectons are available. If it shows W2100 as an option, you have a "Euro" Q.

Unfortunately, the Motorola Q 9h does not support all three 3G bands.

That's what I was afraid of. Looks like I will need to eBay this one and buy another Q9H.
