Default Moto Q Global bluetooth issues

I have tried several different bluetooth headsets/headphones and they all play the phone's ring tone through the headset and the phone speaker when you get a call. Is there a way to have it not play through the phone's speaker. (only through the bluetooth headset) THANX!

If you put the phone in vibrate or silent mode, then with the bluetooth headset in place, it will only ring and make noise through the headset. Good luck.

Thanx! I have done that. It does work but doesn't quite fix the problem for me. The ring tone heard is a "standard ring tone" from the headset not from the phone. I have "nametones" for each caller that announces who is calling. Each contact has a different ringtone assigned to it. I don't want it announced to the world your wife is calling... or your boss is calling etc.

In the case of anything that is not standard on the phone, I don't really know. Sorry couldn't be more help.

If you edit the profile you are using
start > settings > profiles > (press right soft key) > edit
set the ring volume to none and that should do it.
the only downside is then it won't ring when you aren't using the headset.
since the Q9 doesn't have a distinct headset profile like the Q1 did, I would suggest editing one of the profiles that you don't use (and renaming it) and use that one when you have a headset connected.

The closest setting to "none" for the ring volume is off. When its set to off, the phone doesn't ring nor do you hear anything from the headset/headphones. THANX!

Anyone else...

Try setting the "ring type" to silent. I know I saw this done once before, and it was something in the profile settings that did it.

Thanx again ! I have tried this as well. The "pre programmed" ring tone specific to the headset is what is heard, not the ring tone from the phone. As I explained in an earlier post I need to hear the ring tone I set in the phone to play.

Not all headsets will allow the phone to pass the ringtone of the phone to the headset when the phone is ringing. I have a Genum headset that when paired with the phone will only sound the preprogrammed alert tone of the headset when the phone rings...but when I switch to my pair of Motorola S9's or pair the phone to my Garmin Nuvi GPS, the ringtone of the phone sounds. This leads me to believe that some headsets just do not have the ability of sounding the ringtone of the phone and there is nothing you can do on the phone to change the preprogrammed functionality of the headset.
