Question More ActiveSync Woes: Bluetooth syncing doesn't work the 2nd time!

So I've actually gotten the bluetooth/ActiveSync partnership to work. The problem is that after I synchronize successfully the first time and then disconnect when I try to do it a second time, say, after a few hours, the ActiveSync on the PC no longer recognizes the phone.

It's as if COM port 7, after it's been used the first time can no longer be used the second time without either restarting the phone, the computer or both.

I'm using a US Scientific bluetooth dongle that uses the Bluetooth Stack for Windows software by Toshiba v5.10.14.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

Try restarting the PC. Works for me sometimes.

This is a problem that I have experienced for the past year with my old Q. I sync via activesync with vista at home and windows 2000 at work. I often sync and then turn off bluetooth and go out of the office. When I return later in the day and attempt to sync a restart of both windows and the phone is required. This happens on both machines. If I leave work after syncing and go home I often have to restart my phone before it will be recognized by my home vista machine. I would love to find a fix for this. However, it may just be an activesync bluetooth issue that needs to be resolved by ms with updates.

I think the problem is that you are using two different PCs. The sync settings need to be exactly the same on both machines. Otherwise active sync will not work properly. Check out this thread in another forum. It helped another person with a similar situation.

Yeah, this does work. Restarting both or either PC or phone does correct the problem. This was something I didn't have to do for my old Windows Mobile device though and I was hoping there was a more elegant fix rather than just this workaround.

All I can say is that I hate bluetooth sync because it sucks and is totally unreliable. If it works for anyone, lucky you because I gave up trying.

as some had said, if you are using it with a second PC, you may have some problem.

Otherwise, the easiest method is to delete the pairing connection, and re-pair your devices again.

Q9h's Broadcomm bluetooth stack is actually the most user-friendly stack you can find in the market (the other being the Microsoft BT stack). I find it very easy to set up Bluetooth sync, although there's some steps that need to be observed prior to the sync itself.

do a search in this forum, I have document the steps before.
