Memory Question

Hello All,

I did a search and did not find what i was looking for.
So here are my questions
Specs for AT&T Moto Q Global are 256 MB Flash ROM plus 96 MB SDRAM.
not sure what all that means but when i look in Memory Manager in the phone it says
Device Storage: 132.06 MB
Used: 22.19 MB
Free: 109.87 MB

Ram Storage: 66.12
Used: 23.80
Free: 42.32
So Why the Difference from the specs?

Any answers or help understanding is greatly appreciated

I was just wondering the same thing last night... but I was leaning more towards asking if what I was showing (as far as available free memory) was "ok".

Meaning, what are the suggested limits to not go below or so. I have approximately the same free memory as the post above.

Any thots anyone?

What are you device storage and ram storage on your phone? the total?

I have almost the same, this is what I show:

Device Storage: 132.06 MB
Used: 26.72 MB
Free: 105.34 MB

Ram Storage: 66.12 MB
Used: 31.58 MB
Free: 34.54 MB

I just want to know if anybody out there can tell me if I'm "ok", or "within good limits"... basically what low numbers should I watchout for not to go below...

Thank you so much, Now i know that my Q shows the same as another user.

Now, Does anyone know why the difference between the posted specs and what the phone shows?

I take the difference in the stated and free device storage to be the size of the installed operating system and applications. Given what we know about the PC versions of Windows, it seems logical that WM6 and the AT&T bloatware apps take up about 128 MB.

The RAM difference is probably files that Windows is using while it is running. Startup programs maybe?

I understand your thinking, but even if it took in account for the OS, shouldn't the system memory still show the total of 256 and the 96 ram?

Just confused......and probaly will be for life..........lol
