Default mailwatcher.exe and a Yahoo account

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search but found only one thread that mentions mailwatcher.exe in Task Manager.

I have a Yahoo account that I set up when I first bought my phone a few weeks ago. It doesn't receive email unless I tell it to. I have tried deleting it from the accounts list, but it doesn't go anywhere. I also cannot access its "settings" (the words are in the menu but I can't click on it). And, lately I have been getting 8 spam emails/day on the Yahoo account when I used to get 4/month. These things seem really weird and I'm wondering if mailwatcher is a virus or something. I'd read bad things here about the McAfee Virus Scan so I'm not sure if I should run it.

I was able to set up a second account for the same Yahoo account using the instructions under the "Help & Quickstart". This one works well and I can access the settings.

How can I delete the original one? Every time I click delete it just sits there smiling at me ;)

Thank you,
dan

mailwatcher is definitely not a virus.

To delete the first yahoo account, go to Start Menu --> XM Settings, then hit Menu, Re-register. The very first e-mail account you set up on the phone can only be accessed through the XM Settings program.

I tried that, which removed it. But, then it locked up and now when I go to Start - XM it gets stuck on Registration with a blank white screen.

So I guess I need more help.

Thanks,
dan

Hmmm, I did that procedure several times until I got all of my e-mail accounts the way I wanted them.

If you only have the one Yahoo account set up, I would suggest deleting it completely, restarting the phone, and trying the XM Settings again.

Try deleting all the accounts, and then restarting starting over. That might help.

This morning I had to do another battery removal - I think because the battery got too low before I charged it. I'd tried removing the battery before, but that did nothing. Anyway, this morning XM restarted.

I'm happy enough with the way the email is now set up, it's checking it every 10 minutes, so I'm not sure if I want to mess with XM. What's the point of it? Does it have something to do with Outlook?

Thanks,
dan

If its working the way you want it to, then don't mess with it

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I was just thinking maybe it'd make Outlook work - but that's probably a sync thing, right?

Guess I'm good to go.

Well XM and Outlook are two different guys.

Have you tried setting the Activesync or WMDC to sync with Outlook ???? You should have set it the first time, or you can go back to it under sync settings (for WMDC)

Right, I do have Outlook set up, I was just thinking that maybe messages would load into it without my having to sync. I guess the only way for messages to end up in the Outlook inbox is to sync.

Thanks,
dan
