Default Mail folders

When I select the folders option from my email account, I find 5 folders...

Deleted Items
Drafts
Inbox
Outbox
Sent Items

I have not been able to figure out how to add a new folder, such as Saved Items... is there a way ? I would have guessed via Manage Folders, but this option does not offer up a menu.

The best way is to set up your account as IMAP if you can. Then your phone will sync folders with your PC. I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my pc client. You can do it with Lookout (I mean Outlook) if you want.

Default excellent

Just the kind of post I was looking for! Can you describe how you get Active Sync to look at thunderbird instead of outlook? I just got my Q9h (Love it!) and want to be able to sync, mainly contacts and calendar, but I hate outlook. Any help? -Pilot

It doesn't really look at outlook or thunderbird. I looks at your e-mail account with your provider. Outlook or T-bird are just e-mail clients that run on your desktop.

From your q mail client select new account and fill in your account info. I use Imap as the protocol. Then you can do the same thing in Thunderbird and set you account as imap as opposed to pop3. I map will syncronize folders on both your desktop and q.

I use gmail so I have to enable imap on my mail settings.

There are instructions to setup Gmail for IMAP on the Settings page when you log in to the Gmail page. Just follow those instructions to get Gmail setup as an IMAP account on your Q. Once you've got it setup on your Q, to get it to sync folders, open your inbox on your Q, and click on Menu-->Folders. Then click on Menu-->Manage Folders, and you'll be able to select which folders you want to sync. Note that if you want to have copies of msgs you send out on Gmail, you need to sync the folder called "Sent Mail" not the default folder called "Sent Items".

Default Ok...

Well that gives me better insight into how it handles email - but until I can afford a data plan, I'm mainly interested in syncing calendars/contacts.
Is there a way to do this using thunderbird?

You should check out mozilla.org, specifically the sunbird and lightning projects. They are working on a t-bird calendering system. I don't know what the status is in regards to smartphones, but it's worth checking out.
