Well; no matter what uniform we wear, wer're all brothers (and sisters I guess). I'm sure Marines have their share of jokes about the Army too. And everyone has jokes about the Military Bandsmen (Although not many were directed at my band after we went to Bosnia). If you're ever in my area, look up the 28th ID(M) Band.

I have never been much a fan of talking smack about any branch or any uniform but I know there exists a bunch of crap between Marines and Army and I frankly don't know why.

Fact is that my Uncle was Navy, my Dad was Army, two of my cousins are Air Force and about 6 of us are Marines (including myself, my grand father, other uncles and cousins). I am a firm believer that we all work towards the same goal and despite our varying style, we can only hope to achieve that which is dear to all of us.

That being said, if I am ever in your neck of the woods, I will look it up, I promise.

I have no problem being mocked when its in good fun but not when its malicious and coming from people who wouldn't even rank with their stupidity. That being said, I was having fun until it was misunderstood. by the way, what are you smoking, I still want some.

You know, you're not the first marine that I've heard that from. The last time was a speach given by a marine 4 star(unfortunately I don't remember his name) during the memorial service at our Division shrine 1 year ago this weekend.
It's still true no matter who it comes from.

Honestly, this was not off someone else's speech but as you said it is still true no matter who says it. At least it shows that in honor and code, we think alike. I have buried more than my share of soldiers and friends since Afghanistan and even though I am out on medical, I still consult and even ship out in "logistical" capacity for various periods of time.

whenever my old Lt. felt like smoking something... it was usually the nearest pvt. :-)

anywho, I think it was just a bad joke gone wrong

(I may need a twinkie, all this smoking gave me the muchies)
