Default How to enter alpha characters in dial by name

I often hit a dial by name directory when calling a corporate number. I can't figure out how to enter alpha characters when asked to "enter the first three letters of the person's name". Most phones have ABC under the number 1, CDE under 2, etc. but my Moto Q9h doesn't. Is there a way to activate the keypad so the alpha characters dial the right number? Motorola and AT&T support both told me to memorize the letters on a normal phone keypad!

I've tried DTMF set to Long/Short/Off. I've tried the Function key and the Caps key. Nothing I've tried works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

it should work if you hold Fn while typing the letters. This works on the Q9c.

I was wondering if there is an explanation page that goes along with the webpage that has the dialpad.cab program. I like how there are a ton of programs on there, but I dont know what any of them are or if they will work on my Q9c. Thanks brethren.

Smile DialPad.cab - it's now free... link enclosed.

As someone else posted, dialpad.cab will do it.

Go to http://benhirashima.com/software/

download dialpad.cab.

copy it to your phone.

run it on your phone.

then restart your phone.

It works... and it's free! (thanks to the author.)

PS. - I know this post is "late", but I just got a Q and was trying to solve the same problem, so I posted my results in case it helps someone else.

-Phil

P.P.S. - I have the Q9H from ATT, and it works fine.
