Default how do you close a data connection?

When I make a data connection then remains always open,
even if I press the red button.

How do I close the data connection without switching off the phone?

Thank you

Bas

If you have AT&T on the home screen, go to the tab that has AT&T text on it, then hit the right soft button and hit either #1 or disconnect cellular data.

Either way, it should be the first one down on your home screen, regardless of carrier.

what data connection & how do you know it's "open"..

data is only exchanged if you see the pda looking icon in the icon bar.. the arrows (as stated a few million times) only indicate the device is ready the exchange data..

The data connection is only open if you've got a letter instead of the little signal bar icon, and it should close itself after the time interval you specify.

It can be changed by going to Settings>More>Connections>Right softy key "Menu"> Advanced>Right soft key "options" Highlight "Idle disconnect after" and select the time interval you want. Shortest is 30 secs and longest is 5 mins.

Well, that may be for Verizon and Sprint, but not so on the Q9h.

This is what the icon looks like for when you're data session is open/active:

And this is what it looks like when not active:

Hmmmm... I'm looking at my settings and my shortest is 'none' and longest is 10 mins. If I set it to 'none' do you think this will help with IE timing out when watching a video using tcpmp, youtube hack? I have done the IE time out hack. But this option is much simpler than going through the registry. If it does indeed work.

The registry hack is changing the same value as this, except the UI only allows those specific ones.

And you're right, its none, to 10 mins. Sorry. Didn't read the top and bottom settings, lol.
