Now, google maps is up and running, although, I've run it only once, so I'm keeping my finger's crossed that it will stay that way!

Now, am I going to have to run the kick-start every time I run google maps and wait this long? I certainly hope not. We'll see. I hope this was a one time thing...
Lately, I have been using the AT&T Maps app to 'kickstart' the gps. I have been getting good results too. Especially with WLS. I just loaded the app. I did not upgrade to navigator nor am I using the actual service.

I believe hes referring to Telenav. Its been renamed AT&T Navigator now.

Thats kinda smart. I'm gonna try that. Right now actually.

Cool. Let us know how it goes. I have no problems with the GPS, I use it with Live Search all of the time. It just takes a long time to start up, and I kick-start it with GPS Test.

Bummer.

I deleted the "Get Telenav" icon when I was moving icons around on my start menu. I tried navigating in Media Mall to it, but no dice.

I'll try with my comp right now.

I've been having some serious issues getting GPS to work. GPSID fails to update any settings. I've attempted to edit the registry to allow editing but nothing seems to allow it to do the simple updates to enable my GPS.

It says one of the two things:

Failed to update GPS driver.... or

Unexpected error in settings.exe

Has anyone experienced this? I've tried reinstalling the cab file a few times.

It still has Telenav in some small print but the "about" shows that it is AT&T Maps Version: 1.2.0.7 with an option to upgrade to AT&T Navigator.

Turn on the gps status icon with the registry setting:

HKLM\Services\LCAService, DisplayIcon=1

You will see that as soon as you load the ATT Maps program it is starting to aquire a lock on gps satellites. You don't need to do anything else in that program. But, if AT&T has any inside info to use the gps to get the fix faster then you will get the benefits.

Default I'll try ATT telnav

with the GPS Test kickstart, I'm still taking 6 mins or so to acquire a lock. Thus, I either have to leave GPS running constantly, or wait 6 mins every time I want to use GPS. This seems nuits. Now, I'm abouit 7 miles outside of Boston. It's not ridiculously hilly here, nor am I out in the wild, and we're not even particularly dense either (signal can't realistically be obscured by buildings or other signals, I think). I can't figure out what is going on.

I'll try the ATT kickstart to see if it's any faster. Hope so!

I think you can use Opera and go to "http://ota.telenav.com/ota/at" to get the cab. For some reason, if you use IE the site does not recognize your device.
