Default Features request

I've been using my new Q for over a week now and here is what I would like to be able to do with the phone:
- have more than 5 email accounts
- have one in box where all my emails will go to (from all accounts) and be able to reply from account that the email was sent to. BlackBerry can do it
- modify home page buttons and layout. The ATT and time is taking 1/5 of the screen. The date is always above time when there is so much space on the left? Get Express Mail shortcut doesn't do any good if I'M not interested in getting the software. Facade isn't working with Q as it messes up email settings.
- phone lock after x idle minutes. There is an option to lock it but requires password to be entered on unlock.
- Customized button layout by ATT makes impossible to use some applications as they require original Q right soft key button. ATT customers (me) have message (envelope) button there. See if you can install Gmail application on your ATT Q.
- My other Motorola phones had USB2.0 cables. Now I have to get new set of cables for the Q.

ATT issue:
- IM is being charged as internet + text msg use. Any one know a way around the text msg part. I don't have text msg plan and not planing to get one.

If you know solution to any of the above, please share.

Thanks,
JP

Actually bud, about IM's:

If you use the built-in IM messenger, it will send the messages THROUGH the internet, but it will actually charge you a message (the cost is associated, as in, you're only getting billed for the message, not the internet use). So if you don't have a Messaging plan, well, its costing you 15 cents in and out.

If you download an IM program built for Windows Mobile, you use the internet capability exclusively (unless it states otherwise), and it NEVER charges a message. Messages are one of 4 things: Text/Email, Picture, Video, or IM (using the built-in IM program). Any one of those counts as a "message"

There are programs out there that do SMS over the internet, allowing you bypass the SMS plans. But I don't use them.

It sounds like you're in trouble, seeing as how you've been doing messaging with no plan. If thats the case, call AFTER your bill comes in the mail, and ask them to credit your account for the mistake. However, they will probably make you take a text feature.

Hey there, for the IM program I have used "ebuddy" on all my previous phones ( I am not sure if it works with the q9h ) because i am waiting for mine to get here but if it doesnt they also have an "in-browser" application of their program....its the best WEB IM client, IMO - hope this helps!

Default ebuddy and other java apps

I downloaded and install ebuddy application for q9h and I'm facing the same issue as all other java apps on this phone. The ATT q9h doesn't have the soft left and right keys where they supposed to be. I can not finish installation as the buttons are missing.
Any solution here?

JP

Try Octrotalk or Slick...both IM apps don't use SMS to send the IM.

Default Soft keys

Well, I don't want to search for alternative applications every time I have to deal with the soft key issue. Is there a way to reprogram the phone and assign the original Q soft key to ATT q9h soft key?

I have used Octrotalk and it worked just perfectly. I would recommend that for IM from the Q9H.

Then I came across Fring. This allows using GTalk's call features. Meaning that I can call my Gtalk contacts using Fring and not use any of my plan minutes or data kbs.

Now I am used to Fring and that has become my IM client of choice. Since I first used it OCtro has also improved and added the call feature, I think. But I'm fine with Fring. If it aint broke, why fix it!??

Fring: fring
OctroTalk: Octro
