Default Email problems

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Using Vodafone here in Sydney Australia I find that I regularly have to reboot my phone to access my GMail account.

The settings are correct and have been reinstalled at least twice per day since I got the phone approx two weeks ago.

I get the impression that if anything interferes with regular operation e.g. and incoming phone call while it's connected to GMail it seems to cause major problems and requires a reboot with a few minutes of off time before email will work again.

Likewise if I delete emails oh the phone and then also delete them on GMail before the phone has logged on, it also screws up and needs a shut-down and reboot.

Do others have similar problems?

Darryl

No problems like that. I am not sure but I think I head somewhere that if you setup your GMail as IMAP you might have this problem but if you set it up as POP then you will be fine. I have had mine with POP setup and NEVER had a problem, works like a champ.

Don't know, you could try but I believe IMAP was the one with this problem not POP. I have POP and it works fine, I can't say why.

Hopefully someone that has had this problem and found a solution to it can help you out. good luck.

Funny thing was, I told my roommate that my old IZAR (V3xx to most) "worked like a champ", and one day, while on the sales floor, he was answering a question about the phone, and said, "my roommate actually has this phone, and says it 'works like a champ'" LOL, he was so embarassed, ja ja.

There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Its true and funny. I didn't even know you say that, I use it all the time along with stuff like "yada yada yada", "this baby", "this puppy", and "you wanna medal or a chest to put it on?" Enjoy.

Problem solved!

In Australia all the carriers provide GSM. They also now provide 3G and most of them are in the process of upgrading to HSDPA.

My phone was set to automatically select which one to use and as a result my voice calls were using 3G while my data access was HSDPA.

The phone was continually switching between the two and hence causing major email problems after it's email connection was being suddenly interrupted and suddenly switched.

I've now set it use HSDPA only and it's all working perfectly.
