which signaled element? Do you mean the two arrows in the upper right hand corner of the screen? Those indicate that the phone is in data mode (does not indicate data transfer). It switches back and forth between data and voice modes as needed.

i refers to the marked hole at the top of the phone.
is the speaker?

sorry, I was on EQ mobile at the time and couldn't see the pic.
I do believe that is part of the earpiece speaker.

Its not part of the earpiece speaker. It doesn't make any sound. I've played around with it. The earpiece is actually cleverly placed at the very top, just above the Moto button symbol looking thing, but still flush with the screen. So when you put your ear up there, the speaker is pointed right at your ear. Pretty clever.

OH YEAH, thats right !!!! Duh. I knew that too. I actually have one, just never use it anymore.

This was initially believed to be a peripheral mic for when you are in speaker mode, however, it is as U-2 said just a clip notch so it can stay in the holster. It would have been nice though to have a better function
