Default Custom WM IM Clients Can't Connect

For some reason multi-client IM clients I've tried can't seem to ivoke the net on their own. Any ideas? Opening the browser that times out frequently to keep IM client running is rather annoying, but I couldn't find ANY connection options in the clients themselves.

Which clients have you tried? Slick works great for me, and I've never had to open PIE for connection purposes.

Tried Palringo, which I loved, and Agile. Neither could enable net connection on their own. What should I define my default connection as, S WAP, WAP, Work, Inet? Do those even make a difference?

As long as you have your PROXY and GPRS setup to connect automatically to "Internet", then any program who is trying to access the internet will automatically use that and doesn't have to invoke anything, its not like DUN.
