Default Cant click menu on google maps!! - wat the F

Alright im at the google maps main screen.

i see the world.

I have search on the bottom left corner (above the browser globe) and menu tab in the right bottom corner above the mail button.

I cant press the dots to go into it (does nothing)

I tried every button, i pressed shift 1 2 and 3 and they zoom and change view mode. but thats it.

how do i get to the menu or search screen!

you are sure you installed the Smartphone version ? other apps work ? the Menu button in other screens/apps work ?

yea its the right one. i downloaded one version from a guys site www.scottschrob.com/q/apps.htm

and then tried google.com/gmm from my phone. and it said "download google maps for your q"

what is the menu button you use to access settings?

ive pressed the soft keys on the right and it just moves the cursor/map up and down. all the other directional buttons do the same thing.

i can also press shift * and it gives me an add to favortes option. this is anoying.

I actually had the same problem.

The version that downloads from opera doesn't work right. You need to use IE to download the right one.

I heard of this problem, and I think Motley is right. The Opera version either doesn't download or doesn't download the correct version. Something about the browser not reporting the correct phone to it from what I remember.

Did you try installing with IE ????

I had this exact problem with 2 google apps for the Q9h, gmail and gmaps.
The only thing that fixed it was to uninstall and reinstall 2 - 3 times. I don't know why it does it but figure it must be a java runtime error or something. It puts the menu and search buttons too far to the right and left respectively. I went nuts for about an hour trying to figure it out, then I kept uninstalling and reinstalling until the buttons magically moved closer to the center right above the keys that they coincide with and it worked.

I solved this problem by realizing I was using opera to download the app...Once I used Internet Explorer, I had no issues!
