Default Candlelight doesn't work on Q9h?

It appears to run fine at first, but after a while the screen looks like this:

A little color on the edges and the iconbar shows up if I hunt around, but the rest of the screen remains black no matter what I do. Only a reboot will return it to normal (until it happens again). Any ideas? I turned off Smart Backlight but that didn't make a difference.

I thought it has screen brightness sensor like Q9C.

It does, that's the "Smart Backlight", but I prefer it dimmer. Candlelight does exactly what I need it to do, except for this bug that keeps most of the screen black after it's been off for a few minutes.
