Default AOL AIM or Beejive for Moto Q 9h

Hey all,

I don't want to use the pre-installed IM software since it cost me text messaging fees.

I tried installing the mobile AOL beta tool. The chat works great except there's NO WAY to turn off the sound. I uncheck the sound option in the mobile tool and I even tried to putting my phone in silent profile. no dice.

then i tried using the Beejive software, i guess that's still in beta. My wife uses it for her blackberry and it works great, but trying the beta windows on my 9H, it just completely locks up my phone.

What IM tools are people using? hopefully free. but willing to pay if it's a good tool that works like beejive or like a phone version of meebo/pidgin

I wish Beejive worked on my Q9 also. I prefer it's interface over AOL's app. Right now I am stuck with the pre-installed app.

Does Beejive crash on your Q 9h? It blacks out my screen after launching it and i have to pull the batteries out in order to get my phone to function again. I wonder if i'm doing somehting wrong

That's exactly what happens to me! I'm hoping they resolve that issue quickly.

I had that same problem (blacked out screen, etc.). They have since released a new version 0.9.1.0...once I installed it, I no longer had any problem with a blanked out screen, etc. The program still isn't perfect, but this new version fixed enough of the bugs to make it at least usable (for me anyway)!

Silly me...I went to the wrong section.
I grabbed the new Beta release and so far so good. The only bug I encountered was a delay in loading the buddy icons but that's it so far. Did not 'black' out on me for the 10 minutes I used it on the bus. Will do a more lengthy test later.
Thanks for the heads up on the new release. Looks like I'm gonna kick the AOL Beta release to the curb.

I just tried it. Have to say by far the best interface I've encountered and the most support for different protocols. Highly customizable as well.

Can't wait to start chatting and try this one out.

I kind of like Palringo. Nice, simple clean little multi-protocol messenger app. Versions for PC and WM.

If you want to check it out.

Tried it. Wasn't a big fan of it. Can't remember exactly why, because I tried about 4 different ones thats day, but it was off my phone in less than 10 minutes, so I must have seen something majorly wrong with it. To me anyway.
