Default Voice Recognition Prompt

Whenever I listen to music on my q9c with plug-in headphones (2.5mm jack), the damn voice recognition prompt will keep going off sporadically. Sometimes I'll be lucky and have 30 mins of music before it starts beeping, other times it'll go off every 20 seconds.

I've tried going into the settings and turning down the sensitivity, launch applications, etc but still no luck.

I've done a search and haven't come up with any solutions. Does anyone know if it's possible to just remove the voice recognition program or if there's a solution to the annoying prompt?

Search for 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm headphone. There are many suggestions. (Make sure the headphone adapter has 3 black rings, not 2)

I think if you headphones or headphone adapter (3.5 to 2.5mm) has a built in microphone (to answer calls), you won't get the voice recognition prompt. I use my daughters i-pod ear buds, but they need to use the adapter, and my adapter has the built in microphone. I don't get the voice recognition prompt...

If you don't want an adapter, these headphone have what you need...At the EQ store...

I've read the thread you're referring to but I'm using a standard set of Motorola earphones with a 2.5mm jack and built-in microphone so I don't have a need for a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter. The jack on my earphones has 3 black rings so I don't know why I keep getting the Voice Recognition prompt.

Would getting headphones without a microphone resolve the issue?

EDIT: I just looked at the headphones you linked and those are the ones I have.

I am having the same problem as you.

Thing is, I have been using the 2.5 > 3.5 adapter for 3 or 4 months and never had a problem with Voice Recognition untill about a week or 2 ago it just started going apeshizz. Now it will even start to call the last dialed number automatically when it starts having one of those fits.

I went to the sprint store and they ordered me a new one to replace with. I have a feeling I am just going to have to go buy an Ipod to use because this phone is just not working for media play.

I've had that problem of my q9c dialing the last number dialed as well. So is this problem an indication that something's wrong with my phone? How did you go about getting the sprint store to replace your phone? My problem with the voice recognition prompt isn't something that happens all the time so what if it's not happening while I'm at the store?

I just walked in the Sprint store right up to the person at the counter and said

"Hi, I've had this phone for about 6 months. Everything has been great untill about 2 weeks ago, whenver I plug headphones into the headphone jack, the phone goes nutts. Starts activating Voice Recog and dialing last number dialed, to the point where I have to shut the phone off and pull out the baterry to get it to stop"

He says:

"Well this is not a service store so I can't fix it but I can order you a new phone if you have insurance"

And I was like, do that! (phone has dust in the screen anyway! =)

So anyway, after that I just broke down and bought an Ipod shuffle. Only use the media player in the Gym and the phone is too big to be hauling around there anyway.

Also, I never actually had to demonstrate the problem with the store people but if they wanted me to I could have as all it takes it plug in the headphone jack and start twisting it around and it would go apeshizz EVERYTIME.

I got my q9c about 2 months ago so I don't know if it's still covered under warranty or whether it's even a warranty issue but I don't have insurance on my plan so that's not an option for me.

I was really hoping there would be some sort of fix for this issue.
