Post Verizon Motorola Q 9C, At Night!!

I was wondering how do you see the keys and buttons at night. I know with the Sprint and maybe others companies which provide this phone the keys and buttons light up. Is there an option to turn this on or something, or does the Verizon version not have the option to see the keys and buttons at night?

even with the smart backlight on the keys should light when the ambient light is low. or you can go to start > settings >power management and disable the smart backlight. that way the key key lights will come on regardless of the light level.

I tried that and when you Disable and Enable it only changes the effect on the screen, like in dark the screen isn't as bright. Might asked the questions wrong, I can't see the Numbers and Letters on the Keyboard at night, like they don't light up. So Texting and Calling someone and trying to find the numbers or letter on the phone in dark is impossible. Unless you memorize the layout.

don't worry, you asked it right. Those changes should affect the keys too. with smart backlight enabled; if there is enough ambient light, the keypad lights should stay off. But if there is little light the keypad lights are supposed to come on as well. Since yours is obviously a new phone, I would take it to a verizon store and compare it with one of their display models. Or have a tech look at it. There may be something wrong hardware wise.

Yeah going to try and swing by Verizon tonight, because I can't see Verizon having the 9c keyboard not light up and the 9m keyboard light up.

I am new to the Motorola Q9C and I really love it but the backlight is one of the oddest aspects of the phone.

The smartbacklight system is really weird... last night I was in my office, no lights on, checking text messages when the keypad went off and the backlight dimmed... randomly... then got brighter and turned on. It was like the light sensor didn't know what to do or something.

Turning the smart backlight off though just kills your battery.

One question though... in the "Power Management" settings on my Q9C there is no option to turn the backlight off completely... I find this a bit disturbing... often times my keypad lights come on when I'm outside in total sunlight and that seems like a big waste of battery, and there isn't much I can do about it beyond tweaking when the light times out.

Do you have the Verizon Motorola Q9c?

I think my phone is broken, because went in a completely dark area, and the screen adjusted itself, yet the keyboard nothing. Disable the Smart Back light and the Keyboard still nothing.

Thinking it's either broken or the Verzion version doesn't have a light for the keyboard?

I have a Verizon Q9c and I havn't noticed these lighting problems your talking about. When I check things at night the keypad lights up just fine along with the screen. When I'm in my office the screen will light up bright but the keys will not light up as I would expect with the whole "smart backlight". I havn't changed any of the settings in regards to backlighting so it should still be the base settings.

As an experiment just now I hit a button to wake the phone up in my office. Under the normal light, the screen lights up but the keys do not. I think put my phone under my desk where it's darker, hit a key and the screen and keys both lit up. I'd say you have a bad phone.
