Default Skyfire

OK....call me the ultimate pessimist, but, after months of waiting for my Skyfire service to be texted to me, I finally got it about a week ago.

Unfortunately, I have to say that it really wasn't worth the wait...with a caveat. Maybe I just don't know how to really use it. I am, however, about an 8.5 on a scale of 1-10 in tech geekiness, so I am not really sure that's the case.

I, of course went to a couple of sites that I couldn't access with my original IE setup and was pleased to see it went there. It even looks like it's supposed to. But, then I started noticing that playing a java game on it was difficult..and slow. OK, well, I figured that was kinda to be expected, so I just went and looked at "normal" web sites. They seem beautiful on the original layout...all nice and where they are supposed to be. Except you can't really SEE it. So, I went to use the zoom feature, and again, it shows up beautifully....except I had to keep scrolling to the left and right to read articles. It got tiring really quick. I tried to use the smart fit feature to no avail.

Again, this could be just from a lack of knowing the product, but I'm not really sure.

Is there something that I'm missing? If I have to read my web pages in IE, what would be the point of skyfire, except to play games and movies, which in my humble opinion, worked better in TCPMP. (movies that is...not games) What is everyone else's experience with this?

I assume that since I got my beta, most everyone else did, too.

I have found that changing the zoom level makes it better to read mst artivles, especially with smart fit enabled.

I have also noticed a few things thatI am not really pleased with but I am kinda hoping that as we near a production release, some of these issues will be resolved. Skyfire is still a beta release, and betas do have bugs :-)

I've decided that everything that I'm disappointed with Skyfire is lack of touch screen, which is not Skyfire's fault. In fact, it works better than I expected for a Smartphone. Almost makes me want to go back to my PPC6700 JUST for this. Almost....

The concept is great; however they haven't figured out how to execute it at 100%. I am confident that it will continue to improve, and with any luck v1.0 will be a vast improvement over the current Beta reease.

Here's to keeing my fingers crossed and hoping they prove me right.
