| Seven (Beta) - Free Push E-Mail Program - Trip Report So I got rid of MobiPush for strange security reasons and the fact that it was not displaying my e-mails from AOL correctly. (yea its aol, but when you have had that service since 94 up until broadband, you kinda want to keep the same e-mail)
So, overall it is a pretty slick little program. From what I hear it will soon be a charge program that will be distributed with OEM phones in the future, so act now.
The catch is the fact that you have to have the client running at all times for the true push to work. This is fine, because if you have a good task manager you won't have to worry about accidentally closing it or whatever, and I had no problem with the close memory intensive programs automatically with the Seven client, pushing 2 aol and 1 hotmail.
Battery life is excellent, I had my q9c fully charged before I went to work, tested 3 different browsers, relatively heavily, plus used Opera Mobile 8.65 relatively extensively and I believe I was still on 3 battery bars after about 4 hours of solid use, and multiple alarms set with two different programs.
However, compared to mobipush, who I won't go back to until they can get my AOL email issue fixed, it seems my inbox lags 1-2 seconds at times when I get a new message. The receive end it almost instantaneous, but it takes 1-2 seconds to load up my messaging box to select 1-3 e-mail accounts through Seven.
Overall though, it is a great free push e-mail client. And from what I see of it, is more secure than mobipush. Changed all my e-mail passwords after canceling my beta membership @Mobipush due to poor support. |

| never pissed around with it, but it did ask me if I wanted to sync those with my hotmail account, but not the aols.
I think I installed it on my storage card, and lemme look....with seven running and my messaging box open as well as phone settings, I have 15mb+ of ram left
As I said earlier, it ran all night, even with heavy browsing and using by newsbreak which I discussed in an earlier thread of mine with issues of either or automatically closing when playing music and whatever else.... |

And your global contacts are loaded, but not stored on your phone, but on the server side (your computer seven is running on) |

and since they arent stored on your device can you use extreme agenda and what not? |

Yes, and I don't know, I've never used extreme agenda. I guess I never thought about why it'd be a problem to have your pc turned on all the time, I guess some people would have a problem with it...but I am a network guy, so I use my desktop as the server. I guess that'd be the only drawback.... |

the email pushes automatically regardless of your computer being on unless of course you have it pushing outlook i assume but the email servers including hotmail, gmail, aol, etc. they all push w/out comp. being on |

| Its not actually push for many email accounts. I used this but had some issues with getting emails and looked at their forums: it doesn't use IMAP IDLE, but some GMail (maybe some other types too) signal to Seven to check the email. The other accounts will just check every 5 minutes, making the app absolutely useless in comparison to the built-in Outlook. Supposedly in the final version, it'll also use text messages as a trigger for push, but as of right now its useless to me. |
