Default rtn reset and programming question

ok, i know how to reset using rtn, reprogram my phones to work again etc.

but if i get my wife a new phone *sadly a treo 700p and not another moto q which we both think woulda been nicer for her too, wrong price range though*, and i do an rtn and programm the new phone with her information on her current one... is there anything else that needs to be done? do i need to reset the other phone itself before doing that, or will it just turn off the network on its own, or will it just get signal like it did before and interfere with the new one? never transfered to a new phone using it, so i don tknow what to expect.

Basically once you have the new phone, nothing more needs to be done. The old phone will just stop working once the ESN is switched on your account. Although it may still receive the notification that you have new voicemail.

correct, once you activate the new phone everything will then go to that phone. The old phone will still be capable of 911 calls, but will not be tied to your plan.
