Default Restoreing contacts on mobile 6.1

Just did the mobile 6.1 update. before i did i backed up the pim.vol file. whenever i try to put it back on it locks up the phone. i never used the sync cause i didnt have outlook. Now im stuck with mobile 6.1 and an pim.vol file and i cant get my contacts.

Anyway to revert back to mobile 6.0 and load the contacts so that i can sync it to outlook and then redo the 6.1 update. or anyway to just make this pim.vol file that i have work?

don't think a "back grade" is possible... copy it to a temp folder on the Q, then to the root, then power cycle the Q.. did you try that ?

Next time you do a ROM upgrade make sure you check the box to back up your data. This will restore your contacts, ringtones, photos and most of your settings.

This time you had a copy of your contacts because you planned for it. What happens if your phone becomes a brick all of a sudden. May I suggest you start Syncing to outlook or utilize a third party software to back up on a regular basis.

QFT... i've been "screaming" that around here, backup & BACKUP... not 100% a backup/restore yet but a good free one if you don't have Outlook is Dashwire, stores a ton of things/files on-line for safe-keeping. check it out... http://www.dashwire.com

I'm happy to say that all of my data was restored flawlessly after the ROM update. I still backed up my data with Sprite prior though, just to be on the safe side. I then installed my 3rd party software and then restored the corresponding directories to them from the Sprite Backup and my Q9 was back up and running with all the settings for my 3rd party software in no time.

I treat my Q just like my home PC by backing up regularly or before a major upgrade. I build and repair PC's on the side and everytime I have to replace someones hard drive after it crashes they never have a back-up of their data even though they have a DVD burner or external hardrive...Go figure.
