does anyone else get horrible sketchy reception? my last regular cell phone had good bars everywhere where the q hardly gets none. also when i try using the tcmp thing my back button no longer work still i reset it. and my phone does what it wants when it wants. took it to sprint and they said its all good.

See my case is the opposite..
I get reception in places my previous phones never did, every where else is better too. Just remember the "bars" can be subjective, there is no industry standard for what a "bar" means.

i agree with you. granted i used to be on alltel and now i am with spring but my q9c gets much much better service. even thought I may not have the same amount of bars as before I still get great service. even sometimes when my phone shows no bars I can still text and receive/make calls.

Exactly, bar is subjective. I have more time one and two bars on Sprint then on Cingular but then Cingular drops the internet connection with one-two bars while Sprint works fine with one. I think Sprint has to have a better latency and generally be faster.

I've had my Q9 for 2 weeks and I almost always have 0 or 1 bar but my reception is pretty good so far.

Although bars are subjective- The phone still works harder at attaining a signal right? This still means that the battery drains faster than if your phone was showing full bars?

If your phone is under 30 day warranty call sprint and tell them your phone is defective and your still under warranty. Tell them whats going on and you shouldn't have a problem. Just don't let them forward you to assurian(sp?).
