Default Phone to Outlook 2003 sync question

So I was working on my friends phone and something quite odd happened. Somehow Outlook deleted all of his contacts when doing a sync. All of the contacts are still on the cell phone though ( 2000+ contacts) Is there a way I can sync these back into Outlook? ActiveSync wont work, its saying I need to do a manual sync and giving a error message (I will post it later) I was able to get the pim.vol file off of the phone. Can I convert that into something to import into Outlook?

Try deleting the partnership in ActiveSync and recreating it. that should let you resync and restore any data from outlook.

I believe the default is to "Sync" not overwrite anything so it should work the same. If you're not sure, when you setup a new partnership configure it to Sync so it won't over write anything.

is there anything else that is configured to sync? [files, email, tasks] do they sync ok?

I cannot get anything to sync. Is there any 3rd party programs that will allow me to sync my phone to Outlook, or extract address book from my phone?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

outlook sync's best with outlook (microNopoly)

or copy the pim.vol off your phone and do a hard reset then attempt to sync again. after you get the partnership to work copy the pim.vol(addressbook) back to the phone and bam! bob's your uncle!

It will not allow me to copy the pim.vol and overwrite the existing one, any ideas?

So I wiped the phone, copied the pim back and all of the contacts are on the phone. I was able to do a sync before copying the pim back and the 3 test contacts went across. With the new pim installed, now the phone gives the following error when sync'ing and will not sync the contacts error code "Support Code 8600050d"
