| new user; quick question regarding killing tasks Everytime exit out of a program, which I like to do simply by click the home key or the hangup button, that leaves that process running in the background, unless I were to go through the tedious process of actually going to File, and then Exit. This kinda blew me away that this product engineered this way.
Is there ANY mod or anything I can get to where I can simply exit a program, and not have that still running in the background consuming my precious 50 something mb of ram? I'm aware of the Smart Tools thing but even then I have to click into it and select Kill All. Is that the only way though pretty much? |

| well kind of is, would rather exit out of a program with a single button press, without having to navigate to File, or its equivalent, then exit, which is about 3-4 button presses at least, depending on where you are at moment.
Anyway if that's the way it has to be, fair enough, it's nothing serious I'll still enjoy the phone, just thought I'd ask this simple question to the experts fully knowing that most new users/noobs on message boards are looked upon with a certain level of disdain.
Well that settles that, file, exit it is then. Thanks for the fast, direct answer... |

| Yup, it is a minor issue, but a question I had nonetheless, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Thanks a lot. |

| Who looks at noobs with disdain???? Not anyone here (even though it may sometimes seem that way ;) ). We were ALL noobs at one time, and even the gurus here learn new things from this place! Actually, not everything we learn is Q related, but I digress...Welcome to our family! |

| I put the task manager as the first button on my launcher (short cuts) on my home screen. I then hit the button and it goes directly to the running programs. I kill them all. Much simpler than going through all the files to find the task manager. This works for me, hope it works better for you. |

| there's no reason to kill programs.... only if you are sure it for example keeps using data in the background.
