Default Major Lockup, Lag and Delay Problems on Q9c - Suggestions?

I've had my Q9c since late November of 2007. I originally had a very good experience with it. However, for the last 2 months, it has been very frustrating, due to routine lock ups and major lag issues.

Resetting the phone by pulling the battery will normally clear the problem, but it will come back in a short time after. It seemed to start happening once I had connected my corporate exchange server email through active sync. I thought that if I didn't have it constantly syncing (push email), and reduced it to syncing my email twice a day, or manual syncing, that the delays, lag, and lockups would end. It has not fixed the problem at all.

I also have many lockups with the phone when I simply lock the phone with the keylock on the homescreen. It will prompt me to "press * to unlock the phone", but then when I press *, nothing happens, the phone just stays locked.

I would say I have to pull the battery every 2 hours on this phone during a workday. As someone who uses about 2500 minutes a month talking on the phone, this is unacceptable.

Here are some other things I have installed on the phone:
-Most of the speed hacks from this site
-Smart Toolkit
-2 gb miniSD, where most of my files are stored
-I have about 10 mB of free space on the device, about 200 mB of free space on the storage card.

This phone has turned into a misery for me. Please help if you can!

I am new to a Q as well, but I would suggest backing up all your items, Then uninstall all the programs you have installed, restart the device and see what happens. Other than that I would try a Master Reset. but that would be a last resort, or take it to your provider and have them check it out, but they might do a reset without you having a chance to backup your stuff.

This might work for you

From home screen click Start, Settings, scroll down to Text Input Settings. Remove the check from "Suggest words when typing." Then click Menu, and Clear Input History. Then click Done.

Thanks for the advice. I have actually had this feature turned off for a while. I had not done the "clear input history" portion of it though. But the predictive text thing has not been activated for at least a month on my phone.

One other thing I did was clear the IE Cache. My IE Cache was up to 10 mB, which freed up a ton of space on my device.

Anything else I should try, outside of a hard reset?

What version of Smart Toolkit are you running? RC09 has caused some lockup issues for folks. RC08, with some minor tweaks, has been much more stable for those of us using it.

I'll check into that. I just went to check the version on the phone, and the q9c locked up ....

It looks like I am using RC08...based on the most recent entry in the changelog...maybe I'll uninstall and reinstall this.

If you need them, instructions for the tweaks for STK RC08 I mentioned are on my apps page.
