| Just got my new Verizon Q9c They had to mail it to me as they had none in stock. I guess I have to bring it into the store to have them set it up. Is there anything that I can do with the phone which would be helpful to the hackers in figuring out how to hack the GPS or features that haven't been hacked yet? Something like grabbing a fresh registry from the phone now and comparing it with one after Verizon gets it "set up"?
Let me know what I can do to help, if anything?

| Well, lots of viewers of this post. No replies.
Anyways, I have some follow up questions:
Has anyone paid for the VZ Navigator service, just to see if that unlocks the GPS? I am willing to do that, but I need one of you technical guru hackers to help me to verify it is up and running
Also, has anyone tried something as simple as getting Motorola's and Verizon's technical support guys together on a conference call and work through the "issue" of not being able to see the built-in GPS on the Q9c? |

| Thanks Rude! As you can see, I am already involved in that discussion. What I'm missing is the answer to why the Government's network of satellites and Motorola's built-in GPS receiver cannot talk(Notice how I didnt mention Verizon)
So, this morning, I have been on the phone with Motorola. I told them I purchased the Moto Q9c to be used as a PDA with built-in GPS only. I do not have phone service for this device and want to activate the GPS.
I'll let you know how that goes. |

| 1) Up to this point, I did not have a high tech phone with internet, text messaging, and all of that. So, the first reason to get the phone was for that.
2) My kids and I do Geocaching. Its basically a hobby where you hunt down hidden items via GPS coordinates. Up to now, to do this, I would be carrying an eTrex hand held GPS, as well as a Dell Axim PDA with certian Geocaching software to hold information about specific caches in the area, and of course my phone for ..well, phone service. The software on my PDA could work with a builtin or SD card GPS, but I had not purchased one. I instead decided to combine all of these features into one device (or so I thought).
In addition, the eTrex doesnt do turn by turn navigation, so I thought I might want to have that functionality as well. With something like Garmin XT, it appears I could also have that ability in one single device.
3) Through Verizon, this device only cost 29.99. |

| Oh, and thanks for the welcome. I'm fairly certain Im in the right place to solve all of my issues. It just may take more time than the 30 days I have before I would have to return or keep the phone. Hopefully not |

| Wow, this is great.
Somebody who is proactive in a VERY 'out of the box' kind of way to try to figure out a solution to an issue many of us are at a minimum concerned about.
Good luck on this hunt.. please keep us posted as to what you find. |
