I do know, but you need to activate the phone, that there are "off road gps" programs out there, but why not activate the phone, I know with sprint it takes like 30 seconds to activate my old phone back if i need it.....

But from what I understand, and you all will surely correct me if I am wrong, the gps on most cell phones are based off of the towers to download information and maybe get a "sync" with the satellites......but i donno never looked into it much

I do use my q9c for tbt navigation all the time....but it comes with a certain plan....heh, like the others said good luck and that is about as far as I can take this thread

Well, All I have been getting is the run-around from Verizon and Motorola. SOme have said it does have a built in GPS receiver. Others tell me its only for e911 service. None can tell me what the difference is. (If anyone here knows, please share that knowledge)

Is there anyone here who is so deep into the electronic components of these phones, that they can verify the specific make and model of the GPS receiver chip that is supposedly on this phone's circuit board? I really need to know once and for all what is inside this phone.

Well, I'm still fighting the good fight. I still have about 23 days left before I have to return the phone to Verizon of keep it.

Basically, I have been having my case # "disappear" at Motorola or the case is missing the information where it should be forwarded to level 3 support. I have asked them for 2 specific things:

1) Verification, by part number, model number, serial number, etc., that the internal GPS reciever chip on the circuit board of the Q9c for Verizon is identical to the Q9c for Sprint.

2) I would like to speak with someone intimate with the Windows Mobile 6 load on the Sprint and Verizon phones and who is knowledgeable about the specific registry settings regarding the internal GPS drivers.

We shall see how that goes.

In the meantime, I wasnt sure if I saw this posted here. It is inregard to the GPSID Settings application that comes with Windows Mobile 6.

yeah I know but in the first thread linked to this thread...so I posted it. I just read most of the first thread and they talk about the Q9c and using this Rom Leak like it applied to the Q also. just thought I'd post it incase someone "smarter" then me knew anything about it.
