Default GPS receiver on Q9c functional or not?

How can one determine whether the GPS receiver on Q9c is functional or not. GPS Test never finds the receiver, neither does Google Maps when using the settings with Microsofts GPSID and GPS Test. This phone is only two weeks old.

Try using it with Windows Live Search. You need to go into its program menu and set GPS to Intermediate Driver. I have a copy of the .cab file on my apps page if you need it.

No problem. You may also want to check your GPS settings within Windows itself. I believe the settings are under Start-->Settings-->More-->More--> Phone Settings-->GPS Settings (or somewhere around there . . . I don't have my Q in front of me at the moment).

Tried WLS no go either. It's stuck on 'locating GPS'. So far no program has found the GPS on any com port including #3. That's why I am tending to think that the GPS unit is not functional.

WLS won't find it when you set it to GPS intermediate driver either?

Check these:

Under Start-->Settings-->More-->More-->Phone Settings-->More-->GPS Settings, set Number of Fixes to Always On

And, as I mentioned earlier, and as Paco just mentioned, in WLS, if you click on Menu (right softkey)--> Settings, it needs to be set to GPS Intermediate Driver. The GPS is not mapped to any COM port.

It's set to 'always on' as mentioned above and mapped to com3 with microsoft GPSID. In fact aall of the above is as it should be and yet the gPS unit cannot be found. That's why I am concluding that it is defective.

What if you disable GPSID? Maybe you are having problems arising from the mapping of the GPS to a port?

I too tried changing the GPS to a COM port, instead of the intermediary driver, using GPSID and had no luck with Google Maps or WLS on the defined port. Even going back into GPSID to return the device to its original settings yielded no GPS, even with Sprint Navigation. I had to do a master reset to get GPS working again.
ow.

Google Maps and WLS work fine using the intermediary driver, but other programs, like Garmin's Mobile XT and OnCourse Navigation, are said to be useless on the Q9c. Quite disappointing, especially considering they work just fine on the Q9h (global).

My conclusion is that this phone will work ONLY with the intermediary driver. But I've only been at it for about a week now.
