Default GPS Issue (been searching for days)

As the title reads I have been searching for the solution to my problem for a few days with no success. When I try and connect to google maps it says looking for satellites (0) and never finds them and windows live does not find my location either. I have tried using the gpsid setting and gps test to no avail but was wondering if anyone has any new ideas. Thanks

You don't need GPSID (assuing you're referring to teh GPSID program posted here some time ago) and gps test to use the Q9c's GPS with WLS or Google Maps. Did you make any changes with them?

In WLS, is the GPS set to intermediate driver?
In Google Maps, is GPS set to set by Windows?

You didn't say, but the GPS works best outdoors on a clear day. Sometimes they will work indoors close to a window. They will work on a cloudy day, just not as well and it may take longer to get a good fix.

Make sure your GPS is on. Click Start, settings, hit GGBGB and make sure that number of fixes is set to always on.

In WLS, click menu, settings, and make sure the second option says GPS Intermediate Driver. Give it 10 minutes outside away from a building to get an initial fix.

Try a soft reset (turn phone off and on). Do you see the GPS symbol in the top menu? It looks like a little target.

I had the same problem as you and was frustrated for a couple of weeks. My solution was to backup my files and execute a master reset. I then linstalled Google maps immediately after and !wallah! it has been working ever since. Stay away from GPSID, it is not necessary on the Q9c, works right out of the box. Hope this helps.

If you look back a few pages, you will see my thread 'GPS functional or not'.
