gmail problem - Motorola Q Forum

Every time I send a message with my gmail account it sends a copy to my inbox on the Q. Is this just the way it is or can I stop this?

Do you have your Gmail account set up as POP3? There's a workaround for this, but you'd be better off setting up your Gmail account as an IMAP account. Check out the instructions on the Gmail page. You'll avoid the issue with the copied messages, and you'll be able to sync folders (which you can't do with it set up as POP3).

I had the same issue. The only way I found around it was to setup IMAP. But with it setup that way it doesnt keep any sent items or deleted items. It appears to clear them out everytime the application is closed. That kind of sucks, but I am dealing with it because I dont get the dup emails in my inbox anymore.

With your Gmail inbox open on your Q, click on Menu, then Folders. Then click on Menu, then Manage Folders, and you'll be able to select which folders you want to sync. To keep copies of sent emails, you need to sync the folder called "Sent Mail", not the default folder "Sent Items". For deleted mail, you need to set the folder named "Trash" not the default folder "Deleted Items".

I dont ever sync my Email with my PC. I use it strictly on my Q. Will this still resolve the issue?

The instructions in my last post are for your Q. If you ever happen to check your Gmail on your PC, then it will be synced and you shouldn't have any issues.

No problem. Yeah, the syncing has nothing to do with your PC. It's just how you'll set things up in your Gmail account on your Q.

Working like a charm, now I just need to see if I can rename them in Gmail to match the Sent Items and Deleted Items that Outlook has, Pretty lame I know but why not shoot for perfection!?

I have over 2000 emails in my Gmail sent mail. If I were to sync this with my Q9c does it take up from the available free space on the Q9c?
