Good question. I have never really tracked. My "closing apps" paranoia dates back to my PPC days where I relied upon WisBar. The one thing I notice when closing apps is improved CPU usuage under System. I also have a memory meter running on my today screen (via phoneAlarm) and I definitely see higher numbers when closing apps (rather than letting the system manage). Thus in my mind, I am getting snappier performance - of course that may simply be in my head.

some would say that even a perceived benefit is still a benefit. If it makes you feel better, keep at it.

Since I upgraded to 6.1, I can't even find the task manager to kill apps. Where is it anyway?
