Yeah don't go crazy if your card reader doesn't read the card you need an SDHC card reader.

I understand that its cheaper, but really, its only $20 extra for an 8 GB microSDHC card. Isn't it worth it to everyone to have future compatibility, when practically everything is moving away from mini-SD to micro-SD? The two major formats will continue to be SD and microSD, and mini-SD is a dying format.

mini SD dying? thats what they said about beta tapes.

mini will hang around for a while until device manufactures can decide on what format to use.

That's the thing. The device manufacturers have already mostly decided on microSD. In addition, 12GB microSD has been announced, and Sandisk believes they'll hit 16GB microSD before the time thats released. What's the last thing that's been announced for miniSD? Oh, right, 8GB, which is already available in microSD as well.

Hey if the $20 makes a difference, then go for miniSD, but I've already gotten burned with my 9 different SD cards I've collected over the years for my Treo only to see the Treo switch to miniSD (and the Centro is now microSD). The industry has pretty much standardized on microSD for portable devices and SD for larger devices (luckily my n800 and new digital camera can both use some of those SD cards), and so I personally won't ever be buying miniSD again.

16G is currently being tested...

for smartphones I can see them migrating to micro, space is everything. For other devices you have a wall of different formats and types. Thats what they should work on first

That is a really good price. I just bought the Patriot 4gb mini SDHC card for
$25 in January and that was considered a great deal then.

You don't need to do nothing, Q9C are compatible with 8gb (32gb max) SDHC formats.
