1X data not EV DO?

Hello,

I just switched over to a SERO account as of 4/15, but since then, my phone will only get slower 1X coverage, and never pick up EVDO. I had the Simply everything 450 plan before, and I would say I averaged EVDO coverage roughly 75% of the time, 1X the other 25%. I was in Downton Chicago, and am currently at my house, and at both locations, where I used to get EVDO, Im receiving 1X. I'm wondering if this is something to do with the SERO? Did switching my plan make me have a slower data rate somehow? Any Ideas?

switching plans shouldn't affect it. Can only hink of a few things...

1. turn off phone, remove battery, wait a min, reboot
2. call sprint

SERO plans should have EVDO coverage if its available in the area.

I've had SERO for several months and have always had EVDO (where available).

dial ##33284# then send and go to field test then hdr preference then switch to evdo only

Hey, thanks for trying guys, altho that ##33284# thing didnt work, just dials and said its not a real number.

Today I've had even worse problems. In addition to not getting EVDO, my phone says 1X, but isnt connecting right. So far, it has twice been unable to connect to the server, saying check signal yadda yadda, but I should definitely have service. And in addition to those, I had it once tell me no signal for a phone call, although it showed two bars. After each of these, I had to do a soft reset and then it would work for a bit after I did that.

I think I'm gonna try to make it to the Sprint store tomorrow, and hopefully exhcange out the phone because I figure odds are it's a hardware issue. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?

Maybe a PRL (preferred roaming list) update may help. From what some people here say you call Customer service and have them flag your account for a PRL update, then call *2.... sumthin like that....

Oh the ##33284# thing... I tried that too, dont work. I tried ##33284## tried ##33284* tried ** 33284# tried ** 33284* tried ** 33284** dont work at all.

what does work is ##073887* then press send. But you will need your MSL (master subsidy lock) number to access the menu's therein after which you can chose option G for field test mode. Since its for diagnostics only though it likely wont be of much help, may only tell you what you already know.. signal in the area sucks.
