Default Q9 - Wifi?

I've had my Q since the day it was 1st released by Verizon. Now I'm ready and willing to get my hands on the Q9. Besides Windows 6.0 I don't even really know what the major advantages are, but I love my Q so much I'm willing to give it a try. My one and only true concern is whether a wifi card in the form of a minisd card will actually work with a Verizon Q9...I called both Verizon and Motorola, Motorola told me what I already knew - that the phone is designed for it, but Verizon couldn't tell me if it's blocked or restricted in some way. I would appreciate any info on what people think of the 9 + specifically wifi. Looking forward to hear from everyone....

the spec sheet from verizon that was released the week before said it supports wifi.
I'm trying to figure out how to tell the card on the left from the card on the right here
http://www.spectec.com.tw/wlan.htm

both like to the same spec page so my guess is the ones on the right are just there for search engines.

Default wi fi card

so how does this work, when you need Wi fi you have to change storage cards? Does the card also function as a "storage card" or just wi fi? Do you have to pay for wi fi? Why could'nt they have built that in like Tmobile did on the dash?

Yes, you'd have to change storage cards to use the WiFi. You would not have to pay for usage (outside of the card itself).

Why is it not included. The wireless providers make money on data plans and hold the manufacturer over a barrel when it comes to WiFi. Customers are demanding features like Wifi, so hopefully this will change in the near future. Palm has always blamed lack of WiFi on power issues. It's clear to me why we don't see WiFi. With the iPhone, hopefully wireless carriers will get on board and offer customers what they want.

-Chris

ps. - btw, great site.

Thanks Chris = ). Are the providers worried about callers making free calls from wi fi with features like vonage, etc? Also how much to these cards cost?

They aren't worried about the calls, because as their customer you already have a voice plan. They are worried about customers buying a smartphone and using all the great data capabilities (email, web) via WiFi. Let's say for example they included WiFi in the Q9m. A lot of customers would might opt for only a voice plan and would use the "free" WiFi for email, web.

I see.
Are you at all concerned about the reported sluggishness of the qm9 and all the verizon software loaded on the phone? Are YOU gonna trade in your current q?
Lastly, How much faster do you anticipate the wi-fi card would be? My lap top is often slower than my Q when using public free wi-fi! I'm spoiled with comcast internet on my pc

Did anyone answer the earlier questions about the dif between the
SDW-822 and the 855 mini SD WLAN-11b card
for MOTO Q GSM + Q9m

I have never had such a difficult time finding a price for an item. Does anyone know how much this is? There are none on EBay, so does that mean it is new?

Thanks,

BB
